Details on qualifying for the DraftKings Sports Betting Championship for Spring 2020

For West Virginians, participation in this event will ultimately require some travel. Although you can qualify from your home state, the competition takes place in New Jersey.

There are two paths to qualification.

The first is a direct buy-in of $5,000. Simply email DraftKings Sportsbook at [email protected] to complete that purchase.

The other method is through playing NBA daily fantasy games on the online sports betting app. Those contests are ongoing right now and time is drawing short.

Regardless of whether you buy-in or qualify playing DFS, time is also drawing short to make your travel plans to the Garden State. The championship event is coming up soon.

The championship structure for spring

On Thursday, March 19, DraftKings will begin its event at its retail sportsbook in Weehawken, NJ. It will run the event from that location.

The competition is simple. Each player starts out with a $2,000 bankroll. The object is to turn that into as much money as possible through betting.

The championship event lasts throughout the rest of the weekend. Bettors can bet on any eligible college basketball tournament or NBA games all weekend long.

Qualifiers do not have to be physically present at the location to participate. They do have to physically be within the state of New Jersey, however.

In order to stay in the competition, you have to wager at least $1,000 each day.

It’s also important to note that NJ doesn’t allow wagering on in-state college teams, so if you fancy Seton Hall for a bet, DraftKings won’t be able to accommodate you.

When the competition ends on Sunday, March 22, you will take home your bankroll and any leaderboard prizes you may qualify for. If there are any ties on the leaderboard, winners will share the appropriate prizes.

Although spending a weekend in NJ might seem an unnecessary expense, that can quickly be recovered by the prizes. Additionally, those who qualify through DFS games get four nights in a hotel and $1,000 to cover travel expenses.

You can’t win if you don’t play. These prizes could turn any investment you make into a sound one.

You could return home with a fatter wallet

Although prize values will vary somewhat based on the number of entries, everyone who qualifies for the top 25 spots should come away happy.

DraftKings is offering $500,000 to a grand prize winner, for example. A runner-up would get $250,200 while a third-place player can claim $150,120.

Even those in 21st-25th places will take home $10,008. That is in addition to whatever they make from their wagers of course.

Time is of the essence. Visit DraftKings Sportsbook for all the details.  Your chance at half a million dollars awaits you.
