Hollywood Casino WV sports betting
Hollywood Casino is the first casino in West Virginia to take sports betting wagers. The first WV sports bet was placed on August 30, 2018. The retail sportsbook is operated by William Hill.
Hollywood Casino partnered with DraftKings Sportsbook WV for online sports betting. The popular mobile betting app launched on Aug. 28, 2019.
Hollywood Casino overview
Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races is located in Ranson. The property started as a horse racing track on December 3, 1933. Slots and video poker were added through a gaming expansion in 1995.
In 2009, Hollywood Casino added tables games and live poker after it was approved by local voters and the state legislature.
Horseracing is still active at Charles Town. There is a race every Thursday through Saturday. A Wednesday race is added during a few of the cooler months of the year.
There are 2,500 slot and video poker machines at Hollywood Casino. There are 75 table games and 18 poker tables. All players receive free drinks, including beer, wine and liquor.
A hotel with 153 rooms is on the property. There are six restaurants and a concert venue with 1,200 seats. This helps Hollywood Casino feel like more of a resort than a gaming establishment.
Hollywood Casino games
There are 2,500 gaming machines at Hollywood Casino. Most are slots. The video poker on the property is not competitive when compared to other gaming markets. The video poker payouts are in the 97 to 98 percent range. This includes 8/5 Jacks or Better and 6/5 Bonus Poker. The slot club does not offer cash back.
There are 75 table games at Hollywood Casino. Players can choose between Big 6 Wheel, baccarat, blackjack, craps, Four Card Poker, Let It Ride, Pai Gow Poker, roulette, Texas Hold’em Bonus and Three Card Poker.
Most of these table games have a $10 minimum bet. Craps is two times odds.
Blackjack is available in two formats. The main game has a $15 minimum bet. It uses eight decks. Players may double down before and after splitting. Surrender and re-split aces are not allowed. For $100, players will find a six-deck table that stands on all 17s with the same rules. This game is in the high limit salon.
Hollywood Casino sportsbook
Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races was the first West Virginia casino to open a sportsbook. It is operated by William Hill. It is near the Skybox Sports Bar.
There are 24 odds display monitors and 50 feet of televisions. Seats have individual monitors so bettors can follow their favorite game right from their seat.
West Virginia regulators have not yet approved sports betting apps. This is expected in 2019. William Hill and DraftKings will operate mobile betting apps in the state once these are approved. Both partnered with Hollywood Casino.
Hollywood Casino poker
There are 50 poker tables at Hollywood Casino. The poker room is open 24 hours a day. The main games are 1/2 and 2/5 No Limit Hold’em. The fixed limit game of choice is 3/6 Hold’em.
There are five tournaments a week. On Mondays and Thursdays, there is a $135 tournament. There is a $150 one on Thursdays at 7 p.m. There is a $225 one on Friday nights at 7 p.m. On Saturdays, there is a $200 one at the same time. All tournaments at Hollywood Casino are no-limit Texas hold’em.
Hollywood Casino players club
Hollywood Casino uses the Marquee Rewards program. It is the same one used by Penn National casinos throughout the country. It is easier to earn points at Hollywood Casino in Charles Town than it is at some other of the company’s casinos. However, the payout for these points is also a bit different.
Players receive one cent in free play or comps for every $5 wagered at slots and $10 for video poker. This returns 0.2 percent for slots and 0.1 percent for video poker. Active players receive mailers that include free hotel rooms, free slot play, table game match plays and food comps.
Hollywood Casino restaurants
There are eight restaurants at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town. These range from upscale to fast food.
9 Dragons is the Asian dining option at Hollywood Casino.
It opens at 5 p.m. Friday through Monday. The last seating is at 11 p.m. on Sunday and Monday and 2 a.m. on weekend nights.
The menu offers Asian favorites like Peking Duck and mu shu. Sushi, sashimi, tempura, dumplings and soups are among the menu items. There is also a wine and cocktail menu.
Epic Buffet is open for lunch and dinner daily. Lunch is $13.99. Dinner is $17.99 on weeknights. Friday’s dinner is $19.99. On Saturday, dinner is $25.99. It includes prime rib and seafood.
Final Cut Steakhouse
Final Cut is the steakhouse option. It opens at 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Closing time is 9 p.m. on weeknights and 11 p.m. on weekends. It is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Attire is business casual.
The menu consists of American and seafood appetizers. Dinner includes prime steaks. Cuts include filet, strip, ribeye and porterhouse. Veal and lamb chops, game hen and seafood complete the menu. Sides are a la carte.
Skybox Sports Bar
Skybox Sports Bar is elevated above the casino floor. It opens at 4 p.m. on weekdays and noon on weekends. It serves typical bar food such as pizza, burgers, sandwiches and appetizers. There is a prime rib special on Thursdays for $13.99.
Sunday features all you can eat fried shrimp for the same price. Happy hour is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
Skyline Terrace is a fine dining option. It offers a wide menu with a view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is open for dinner on Thursdays, Friday and Saturday. Menu items include soups, salads, appetizers, steaks, seafood and exotic sandwiches. There is an expansive wine menu.
The Eatery is a food court at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town. Options include The Balcony Coffee Spot, The Corral and Longshots Deli.
There is an events center with 1,200 seats. It features concerts and comedians. The H Lounge is open on weekend nights. Guests will find a live DJ, dancefloor and lounge seating here.
Hollywood Casino hotel
There are 150 hotel rooms at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town. Rates start at $209 per night. This is for a 350 square-foot Deluxe King.
Guests can pay an additional $10 per night for two queens or a view of the track. There are several suite trims available, including a Junior Suite, Balcony Suite, Executive Suite and VIP Suite.
