November is normally a time when people go home for holiday celebrations. The month begins with some West Virginia football betting action in which the relevant teams are on the road, however.
The Mountaineers, along with the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers, all pack their bags for their next games. Whether they do so as the favorite is another matter.
West Virginia football betting action for the weekend
Hitting the road hasn’t been kind to the Mountaineers so far this season. WVU has yet to win an away game, although it’s only played two so far.
This weekend, the Mountaineers visit the 22nd-ranked Texas Longhorns. The game is set for noon ET on ABC. Statistically, these teams are similar in some ways. For example, the Longhorns average 449.5 offensive yards per game while the Mountaineers average 464.8 yards in the same metric.
Where the potential difference between the teams might be is on defense. WVU averages allowing about 150 fewer yards per game, mostly thanks to a rushing yards allowed per game figure of just 97.8.
That low average is mostly from stellar performances in Morgantown, however. In the Mountaineers’ two road losses, the defense gave up an average of 30.5 points and 345 offensive yards, about 90 yards above the overall season average.
WV sportsbooks don’t expect WVU to overcome those road struggles this weekend. Texas is a consensus favorite of around a touchdown.

Getting this road win over a ranked conference foe would be huge for the Mountaineers’ late-season push. There are also two NFL teams of local interest looking for road wins on Sunday.
Ravens, Steelers looking to be rude guests Sunday afternoon
About 24 hours after the Mountaineers start play, Baltimore looks to rebound from last week’s home loss to Pittsburgh on CBS.
That would require a victory over an AFC team in a similar position. The Indianapolis Colts have a similar 5-2 record, and this game could have playoff implications later in the season. Baltimore is a consensus favorite, but the spread is small.

In regard to the team on the other side of that Ravens-Steelers game, the undefeated Steelers travel to Dallas with kickoff slated for 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS, as well. The spread in this game is huge by NFL standards, as the Cowboys have struggled mightily since losing quarterback Dak Prescott for the season.

The only team of regional interest playing at home this weekend (the Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles are all on a bye weeks) is the Washington Football Team. Washington enters its game as the favorite, which has been a rare occasion this season.

While football betting might be the highlight of the weekend, there are other sports to wager upon. Some WV sportsbooks have promos along those lines.
Houston Open, UFC promos at WV sportsbooks
FanDuel is offering a UFC Decision Defense promo for every fight on the card this Saturday. Opt in and then place a pre-fight moneyline wager and get up to $1,000 back if your fighter loses by either split or majority decision.
BetMGM has several promos for this weekend’s PGA action, most of which take the form of odds boosts. For example, a wager on Dustin Johnson recording at least five birdies during the Houston Open would pay out -134.
While we aren’t sure whether Johnson will make any of the wagers on his performance this weekend pay off, some successful bets might net clever WV bettors enough profit to take a nice trip of their own someday.
