Delaware North, owner of Mardi Gras Casino and Wheeling Island in West Virginia, announced a partnership with Miomni for its sports betting operations.

West Virginia sports betting operations at Mardi Gras Casino and Wheeling Island may be a month or more away. The company noted that it plans to launch both its retail and mobile operations at the same time.

Delaware North is a regional casino company. It owns casinos in West Virginia, Arizona, Illinois, Arkansas, New York and Ohio. The agreement includes casinos in all these states owned by Delaware North should sports betting become legal in those jurisdictions. Illinois and New York are the favorites among those states. Arkansas and Ohio also have bills in the pipeline.

Miomni is the most popular sports betting app in Nevada. It is used by Station Casinos, Westgate, Treasure Island, Wynn, Caesars, Golden Nugget and Boyd Gaming.

Brian Hansberry, president of Delaware North’s gaming operations, noted that the companies plan on partnering to expand operations by managing sportsbooks in other markets, according to Legal Sports Report.

Hansberry released a statement on the partnership with Miomni:

“Leaders in West Virginia were proactive in positioning the state for sports wagering, so Delaware North, with two casinos in West Virginia, is now very much part of a first wave of operators. We think that this unique positioning – combined with our professional sports relationships, our ownership and operation of TD Garden in Boston, and our significant hotel and restaurant holdings – will entice other casino companies to want to explore the opportunities this partnership can present them.”

Miomni CEO Mike Venner said of the partnership, “Miomni is the chosen technology provider behind many of Nevada’s leading online sportsbooks because we designed the platform to be flexible, easy to use and reliable, with innovative features designed specifically to engage and entertain U.S. sports fans.”

Two sportsbooks currently operate in West Virginia. Those are located at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races and The Greenbrier. William Hill manages the sportsbook at Hollywood Casino. FanDuel operates the one at Greenbrier. FanDuel’s sportsbook is only accessible for Greenbrier guests or members of the resort’s private clubs.

Neither current West Virginia sportsbook currently offers a mobile betting app. William Hill expects to launch its mobile product by the end of October. FanDuel’s sports app is likely to be live by the end of fall.

Mountaineer Casino in New Cumberland is now the only West Virginia casino without a publicly known sports betting partner. The company has made no announcements about its plans.
